Our Story

On the Nextdoor social media platform we were born as a public group page, allowing anyone to join the group as a space for contractors and home service providers to exhibit their work and network for jobs in the local community of West Park Ohio (West Cleveland).

Born from a community of over 3,400 members, we are an Ohio-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to one thing: protecting homeowners from the "hacks" and scammers who prey on the trusting.

What started as a grassroots neighborhood watch group on social media has evolved into a formal movement. After years of watching scammers use fake reviews, deceptive profiles, and high-pressure tactics to victimize our neighbors—specifically our seniors and disabled citizens—we realized that just having a pinned warning post, on our group page, wasn't enough. We decided to take a stand, and here we are!

Our Mission

We exist to educate, advocate, and insulate.
For too long, dishonorable people have exploited honest people using deceptive tactics that start with online engagement—collecting deposits and vanishing, or worse, performing dangerous work that leaves homes flooded, electrically unsafe, or burglarized. Our mission is to bridge the gap between honest and reliable service providers and the homeowners who need them most.

Why We Do It

  • Combatting Deception: We’ve seen the damage firsthand—tens of thousands of dollars lost and lives upended. We fight back against the "rings" of scammers who even work as teams, using digital masks to hide their tracks.

  • Altruistic Roots: Our organization was founded on a personal commitment. Our startup costs and website were funded entirely by our founder as a gift to the community, and we continue to be powered by a team of dedicated volunteers who have extensive experience as contractors.

  • Empowering the Vulnerable: We focus our advocacy on those with limited resources, ensuring that being a senior or living with a disability doesn't always make you a target.

Looking Forward: Giving Back

We aren't just here to stop the "bad guys" and support the good ones. We also partner with vetted, registered contractors, as we launch initiatives to provide essential home modifications to those who may otherwise be unable to afford it , such as:

  • Handicap-accessible bathroom features

  • Power-step installations

  • Wheelchair ramp construction

By choosing to support us and our network of registered professionals, you aren't just getting a job done—you’re helping us build a safer, more honest community.

Give if you can

Our "Giving Back" program is funder 100% by donations and we conduct our charitable activities is a 100% transparent manner. When you become a doner, even if you only give $5.00, you will see your donation on the funding list we periodically publish (listed with your alias or or real name, as you determine). You see the total amounts donated and see exactly what those amounts were spent on. For example, when reserves reach $10,000.00 we look at the program applicants and arrange for our Verified Contractors to fulfill those work orders. Often the service provider offers the services at a discounted rate allowing us to then provide even more services to more applicants in need.

As the website development continues you will soon see videos and stories surrounding the awesome work our Verified Contractors perform and you'll see the positive impact such efforts have upon the lives of those in need.
